Privacy Policy
Match Camera does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDKs. Nothing leaves your phone unless you share it yourself.
What the app accesses, and why
Camera
Required to take photos. The live camera feed is processed on your device to show the viewfinder, the histogram, and, in Match mode, to compare the live view with your reference photo so the app can tell when the two line up. Frames are processed in memory and discarded.
Photos
Match Camera asks for permission to add photos to your library so it can save what you shoot. It does not request access to read or browse your existing photos. The most recent photo you took in the app is kept in memory while the app is open so it can show a thumbnail and, in Match mode, the ghost overlay.
Location (optional)
If you allow it, Match Camera adds your location to the photos you take, exactly as the built-in Camera app does, so they appear in the Places view of your photo library. The location is written only into the photo's own metadata in your library. It is never sent anywhere. You can turn this off with the Save Location setting in the app or in iOS Settings, and the app works normally without it.
Motion sensors
The gyroscope and accelerometer drive the horizon level and Match mode's angle guidance. Readings are used live and are not stored.
Purchases
Match mode is unlocked through in-app purchases processed by Apple. The app never sees your payment details. To honour the two free matched photos, the app keeps a small counter on your device and in your personal iCloud key-value storage, which belongs to your Apple Account and is not accessible to us. Apple's handling of purchase and iCloud data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Settings
Your preferences, such as grid type, resolution and which mode you used last, are stored on your device with standard iOS app settings storage. They are not transmitted.
What we do not do
- No servers of ours receive any data from the app.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. Crash reports reach us only if you have opted in to sharing them with app developers in iOS Settings, in which case Apple anonymises them.
- No advertising identifiers, no tracking across apps or websites.
- No accounts, no email collection.
Children
Match Camera is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
